LY, JS, EY to Bighorn and Beaverhead in Montana leaving 7/26 and 8/1 to 8/8 and 8/9. Caught many nice fish on dries on Bighorn, a few 20+, largest 23". 20" bighorn fish were all rainbows, but one or two 20" browns at beaverhead. Many more fish at the bighorn than beaverhead, fishing below the landing, taking boats across and wading. They were not easy but tremendous dry fly fishing all by ourselves down there. River was 2000 cfs which is a little higher than perfect, but I've seen it unfishable there, way over 2500. It was about as perfect as it gets.#16 split-wing black-olive caddis on bighorn (or short 14) and 16 tan caddis at beaverhead and missouri. pmd's were on bighorn but fish not usually taking them.

5/23 - 1193 black morels from 5/3 - 5/23.
5/24 - Bear Lake for bass opener, Gaylanta blocked from ice storm this year. 6 bass up to 18.5".
5/27 West Twin - 16 smallmouth 14-18.5, 1 - 20", 1- 20.5".
5/29 - West Twin - 25 smallies 14-18, 2-20"
5/26 Tea Lake - 6 small and largemouth bass 14-15.5.

hendrickson spinners have finished. just a few spinners tonight and a few single rises. last night was a fast and furious feed on spinners that I wasn't ready for (messing with a caddis fly). I finally hooked a big brown on a spinner at the mio bend (there were three or four feeding) and lost it after awhile. I thought I was using a #12 tiemco hook but later discovered that I had hastily tied on the dreaded #14 umpqua hook in my panicky state. That makes 4 big browns lost on the #14 and one landed.
